Council welcomes commencement of Clyde Road upgrade works

Clyde Road Funding 2023

The Clyde Road Corridor is one of the busiest and most congested arterial thoroughfares in the City of Casey.

Council welcomes the announcement on Friday 13 December by Member for Bruce Julian Hill MP that the $250 million Clyde Road upgrade project has commenced

As part of the works along Clyde Road in Berwick, the bridge over the freeway will be widened to include two additional main road lanes — with longer turning lanes — additional offramp lanes, and upgrades to the walking and cycling paths in the area. The intersection at Kangan Drive will also be upgraded, with new streetlights, road signage, drainage and landscaping.

The City of Casey had been advocating for many years for the much-needed upgrade to the Clyde Road Corridor, which comprises Clyde Road, Berwick-Cranbourne Road and Clyde-Five Ways Road, as part of its Connecting Casey advocacy campaign. Council has been calling for the
duplication of up to 14 kilometres of arterial road, new signalised and upgraded intersections, as well as other upgrades to paths, crossings, public transport and traffic management measures.

We thank the Australian Government for funding this vital project. Whilst there will be some
disruptions in the area whilst works are undertaken, once completed the upgrades will help ease congestion and improve safety and travel times for our community.

The City of Casey will continue to advocate for further improvements along the entire Clyde Road corridor to help ease traffic congestion and connect our rapidly growing community.
