Investing in our communities: new playgrounds now open in Casey

Wood Road

City of Casey Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen and Kowan Ward Cr Shane Taylor joined Federal Member for Bruce the Hon Julian Hill MP to celebrate the completion of two playground renewal projects in the City of Casey.

Wood Road Reserve in Narre Warren South and Kendall Drive Reserve in Narre Warren both received funding for playground upgrades via the Federal Government’s Investing in our Communities program.

Council received $821,000 in funding for Wood Road Reserve, delivering new play equipment, shelter and seating. The upgrade also included a new footpath network, barbecue and fitness equipment, along with landscaping improvements.

Kendall Drive Reserve received $653,000, with works including a refreshed hit-up wall, new play and fitness equipment, shelter and seating, a new footpath network, and landscaping.

Cr Koomen said the upgrades reflect Council’s commitment to creating welcoming, high-quality open spaces for residents of all ages.

“These upgrades are a fantastic outcome for our community, giving families more places to connect, play and stay active close to home,” Cr Koomen said.

“Thanks to the Australian Government’s Investing in our Communities program, we’ve been able to deliver modern, inclusive facilities that will be enjoyed by residents for years to come.”

The Hon Julian Hill MP said “The Federal Labor Government provided a funding boost to the City of Casey to improve local open spaces that families rely on. It’s super exciting to see these new playgrounds completed for children to explore and enjoy.”
