
Attention soccer fans! Melbourne City FC are set to take over Casey Fields, with two open training sessions in January, and the A-League Women’s Derby in February.

Come along, grab a table and chair along the fence line and watch the team train. Following the training, there will be an opportunity to meet the players and grab some autographs. Merchandise will be available and the canteen will be open – there might even be some free icy treats for the kids.

The fiercest rivalry in Melbourne football is heading to the City of Casey, as Melbourne City FC takes on Melbourne Victory in an epic A-League Women’s Derby on Saturday 1 February.
This isn’t just any game — it’s City v Victory. Pride, bragging rights, and three crucial points are on the line in a clash that’s sure to bring the passion and drama of Derby day to your doorstep.
City of Casey Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen said every year, football continues to grow in popularity among our residents from across the city.
“I am a massive football fan and when I was growing up, I wanted to be the captain of the Socceroos. Unfortunately, I did not make it that far, but I do play for my local club and just love the game,” Cr Koomen said.
“I encourage all lovers of sport to come along and cheer on their local heroes at the state-of-the-art facility at Casey Fields.
“The Derby is not to be missed, so make sure you mark the 1st of February in your diary. We look forward to seeing you there.”
There will be a range of activations for everyone to enjoy, including:
- Nostra Home face painting and kids colouring in station
- McDonalds inflatable goals and Keepy Uppy Challenge
- This Girl Can program session
- City merchandise van
- Giant games.
The canteen will be open and there will be lots of giveaways, including icy treats, team posters and Macca’s mini balls (post-match). After the game, you can also meet the stars and grab a derby-day selfie.
With City’s newest Matildas stars Bryleeh Henry and Leah Davidson leading the charge, there’s no better time to get behind your local team and be part of the Derby day buzz.
