Since the February 2009 fires, the City of Casey has taken actions either as a direct response to the Royal Commission findings or to ensure Council is prepared for future events of this nature, including:
- Seven neighbourhood safer places
- Fire prevention team
- Fire management planning
- Tracking shifting bushfire-prone areas
- Enhancing emergency management protocols and processes in terms of how Council supports response agencies and communities in times of emergency
- Advocating on behalf of at-risk communities for better resourcing
- Becoming involved in regional and state level fire and emergency management planning
