The City of Casey has reached an exciting milestone in development of the Cranbourne Hub project, following its endorsement at a Council Meeting on Tuesday 20 May.
The proposed Hub represents a significant investment for the benefit of residents across the south of Casey. Not only will the new Hub stimulate future investment in Cranbourne, but it will revitalise the centre of Cranbourne.
Located on Lyall Street, the three-level Hub will be a place that is safe, welcoming and accessible, allowing residents to access essential services, including Council’s Customer Service Centre, Cranbourne Youth Services, Connected Libraries, and Peninsula Community Legal Centre.
“We want to make interacting with Council as easy as possible by providing a range of complementary services together in a building designed to cater for the needs of our local community,” Mayor Cr Koomen said.
“Located in the centre of Cranbourne, the integrated Hub will be close to public transport, retail, education and recreation precincts and will allow community members, both locally and from growth and coastal areas, to access important services in the one location. There is also ample parking available, with more than 1,000 public spaces within 400 metres of the Hub site.”
Cr Koomen said extensive planning and co-design has informed the location, the partner tenants and design features to ensure the project will meet the needs of future users.
“The proposed building site, which is on Council land, was carefully selected. The cost to build the new hub is outlined in the Draft Budget 2025/26 and Draft Financial Plan,” he said.
Council acknowledges the community’s concern around parking and pedestrian access to the site. In resolving to support the project, options to improve pedestrian connectivity, parking and other amenity upgrades to support accessibility to the site will be explored.
