Share your thoughts on Emergency Management in the City of Casey

Emergency centre

The City of Casey is conducting a review of its Municipal Emergency Management Plan. Updated every three years, the Plan addresses the mitigation of, response to, and recovery from emergencies within the City of Casey.

Prepared by the Casey Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee, the Plan reflects the shared responsibilities of government, emergency management agencies and communities to prepare, respond and recover from emergencies.

City of Casey Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen said “We want to hear from you about what you think should be included in our emergency management planning, where you get your information during an emergency, what preparation you have done for an emergency and what are the greatest emergency risks in your local area. Your feedback will help us shape our revised Municipal Emergency Management Plan.”

Powering up for emergencies

On Tuesday 26 August, Cr Koomen and Tooradin Ward Councillor, Cr Jennifer Dizon visited Clyde Recreation Reserve, which has been identified as one of three priority sites for a Council-run Emergency Relief Centre.

Thanks to $63,372 in funding via AusNet’s Energy Resilience Community Fund Major Grants, Council has recently finished upgrading sporting pavilions at Clyde Recreation Reserve; McNab Recreation Reserve in Cranbourne West; and Mick Morland Recreation Reserve in Clyde North with generator connection points. This now enables the sites to operate as emergency relief centres during extended power outages, like those experienced by the community in the February 2024 storms.
