Update on the March Council Meeting

Casey logo

After the early adjournment of the February 18 Council Meeting, we have been working closely with Victoria Police as they investigate a small group of people continuing to use threatening and violent language online toward Council and Councillors.

In response to advice from Victoria Police, and in the interest of public safety, the upcoming Council Meeting on Tuesday 18 March, will be held online.

This decision, made by the Mayor and CEO, has not been made lightly and ensures Councillors can make important community decisions while prioritising safety.

This is not a closed meeting.  We encourage residents to watch the livestream on our Facebook page or YouTube channel.   Public questions will be answered, and Council business will be discussed and decided on openly and transparently with residents listening and watching online.

Update to the March Agenda

You can view the agenda for March Council Meeting here.  We have made a few changes to the agenda, with Council Reports and other business to be discussed prior to public questions being answered.  As many reports are time sensitive and need an outcome, it’s important that Councillors have the time to discuss these reports to ensure they make informed decisions in the best interest of the community.

Asking questions

Submit your question via the website here before 10.00 am on Monday 17 March to have your questioned answered at the Council meeting.  Your answer will also be emailed to you and recorded in the minutes.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time.  We acknowledge that while the format of the March Council Meeting is different from how we normally conduct meetings, it is essential that Councillors can meet to make important decisions transparently and safely.

We encourage all residents to join us online, to stay informed and to remain engaged in the decision-making process.
