As the tragic events at Bondi Beach continue to reverberate throughout the country, the City of Casey is encouraging the community to roll up their sleeve and donate blood
Australian Red Cross Lifeblood has issued an emergency appeal for blood donations following the attack, particularly for O-negative blood — which can be used in life-saving emergency situations.
Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen said: “In times of tragedy, donating blood is a simple yet powerful way to support those receiving care and to stand with the victims and their families. It’s quick and it saves lives.
“Appointments are in high demand right now, so if you can’t secure one immediately, consider booking for the new year — Lifeblood needs 33,000 donations every week to meet the ongoing need for blood and blood products.
“Every drop counts, so if you can, make an appointment today. There are centres located at Cranbourne West and Narre Warren North and also nearby at Frankston, Dandenong and Pakenham.”
To book a blood donation, call 131 495, book online at https://www.lifeblood.com.au/ or via the DonateBlood app.
