Under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008, our Environmental Health Officers can inspect any premises of a prescribed accommodation business in the City of Casey.
Inspections can occur at any time during business trading hours. Our inspections focus on a wide range of issues:
- Adequate cleanliness and maintenance of premises
- Room sizes are suitable to accommodate occupants
- Appropriate discharge of waste and management of refuse
- Transparent record keeping
Inspection during the registration process
We will conduct a final inspection of your premises after you have completed the building or renovation.
Business registrations will only be issued once we are satisfied that the completed work meets the plans and relevant legislative requirements.
Request an inspection
If you are buying or selling a prescribed accommodation premises, you can also request an inspection before to settlement. An hourly inspection fee of $128 is applicable.

What happens next
We will provide you with an inspection report 2-5 business days after the inspection (depending if it is a standard or urgent request). This report will identify anywhere your premises isn't meeting the requirements of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008.
