Transfer checklist
Before taking over and transferring an existing accommodation business registration, you should:
- Understand the relevant registration fees.
- Apply for an inspection of the business and premises to determine if there are any issues, or if requested by a solicitor, before the purchase of the business. An hourly inspection fee of $128 is applicable.

To apply please complete and return the Transfer of Registration of Prescribed Accommodation Application form
Both the existing and new proprietor's signatures are required.
You can email the completed application to caseycc@casey.vic.gov.au or drop it off at one of our Customer Service locations.
What happens next
- We will inspect the accommodation business.
- If the inspection is satisfactory, we will complete the registration within 5 working days.
- If you plan on operating a rooming house, you must also apply for a licence from Consumer Affairs Victoria.
