Contact us as soon as possible to report a dog attack
You can call us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
You'll be required to provide the following
- time of the attack
- location
- photos of any injuries to you or your pet
- description of the attacking dog and contact details of the owner
- records from your doctor or vet
What happens after a dog attack is reported to us
We will investigate the reported dog attack within 24 hours of the report. Once the investigation has concluded, a range of penalties may be applied:
- infringement notices
- animal management agreement
- court action
Under the Domestic Animals Act 1994 (DA Act), Council may declare the dog to be a dangerous dog if it has bitten or attacked a person or animal.
