Need a way to transport your community group?
The City of Casey offers four easy-to-drive community buses to help your group stay connected, social, and active. These buses are available to the community when not in use by Council.
Who can hire a bus?
Your group must:
- be based in Casey
- be a registered organisation with an ABN (no individual ABNs)
- hold $10 million public liability insurance
- have a driver aged 25 or older with a full Australian driver's licence.
Priority is given to groups that support:
- older people
- people with disabilities
- culturally diverse or LGBTQIA+ communities
- people who are financially disadvantaged and at risk of homelessness.
About the buses
- 4 x 12-seaters (11 passengers + driver)
- 1 of the 4 buses is wheelchair accessible (9 passengers + driver)
- Automatic transmission, diesel fuel, reversing camera, and GPS monitoring for safety
- No special license needed, just a standard driver licences
Permitted use

Buses can only be used within Victoria.
A fixed hire rate applies, which includes up to 100 kilometres of travel. Any distance travelled beyond 100 kilometres will incur an additional per-kilometre charge. Please see the fees schedule for more information.
- Overnight use is not permitted.
- Buses must not be driven on hazardous roads such as snowfields, beaches, through streams, dams, rivers, flood waters, or off-road.
Bus hire can not be used for
- Private, personal, or profit-making use
- Transporting children under seven years of age, as buses aren’t fitted with child restraints.
Availability
A community bus can be hired:
- for either a half day (4 hours) or full day (8 hours)
- every day between 8:30 AM – 10:00 PM
- from the pick up location: Casey Works Centre 30–52 Vesper Drive, Narre Warren

How to book
- Complete the online booking form at least 10 business days before the booking date required
- Wait for your booking to be accepted.
- Once accepted, you will be provided with a Hire and Use Agreement to sign and return via email.
- Complete a 1 hour bus induction before the booking date (all drivers must attend).

Booking timeframes
Irregular (casual) hirers: bookings can be made up to 3 months in advance.
Weekly (regular) hirers: bookings can be made more than 3 months in advance.
Cancelations
If cancellations are made 3 business days or more before the hire date:
- Your booking payment will be refunded minus a late cancellation fee.
If cancellations are made under 3 business days before the hire date:
- The full-day or half-day hire fee will be charged.
