Transferring kindergartens and sessions

[show_all]

What is a transfer

A transfer lets families request to move to another kindergarten when a place has been accepted and is no longer their first preference, or where circumstances have changed. This includes transferring to another kindergarten or transferring to another session within the same kindergarten.

Your child will remain placed at their current kindergarten, whilst being added to the waiting list and considered for a transfer in future offer rounds. This means your child can continue to attend kindergarten whilst waiting to be considered for a transfer.

Important Note: As places are limited and demand is high, there is no guarantee we may be able to offer your child a transfer.

Transfers only apply to children that have a place at a City of Casey CRES kindergarten.  If you are not placed at a City of Casey CRES kindergarten, you will need to complete a new registration form. Once registered, your child will be added onto the waiting list and considered in future offer rounds.

Requesting a transfer for the current year

To be eligible for a current-year transfer, your child must be regularly attending their kindergarten.

  • Once added to the transfer waiting list, they’ll be considered in future offer rounds.
  • When a transfer is offered and accepted, the acceptance email will confirm the start date at the new kindergarten or session.
  • All transfer requests must be emailed to kinderenrolment@casey.vic.gov.au.
Requesting a transfer for next year

You can request a transfer once your child has been placed at a kindergarten for next year.

  • Transfer offer rounds take place separately from regular offer rounds and happen later in the year.
  • If your child doesn’t receive a transfer before the kindergarten year starts, they must attend their allocated kindergarten to stay eligible for a future transfer.
  • All transfer requests must be emailed to kinderenrolment@casey.vic.gov.au.
Responding to your offer

Your transfer offer email will include details on how and when to reply.

If you don’t reply in time:

  • The transfer offer will be cancelled.
  • Your child will be removed from the waiting list.
  • You’ll need to contact the Kindergarten Enrolment and Planning Team if you still want a transfer.

If we can’t offer a transfer, you can choose to:

  • Stay on the waiting list for future rounds, or
  • Cancel your request.
