What is an orientation session?

Orientation sessions are an important part in a child’s transition into kindergarten.  These sessions will help your child become familiar with the kindergarten environment and feel secure as they get to know the other children and educators. It will also give you the opportunity to meet your child’s educators and other kindergarten parents.

When do orientation sessions happen?

At the start of the kindergarten year

  • Orientation sessions take place at the beginning of the kindergarten year.
  • In November, the year before your child starts, you’ll get an email with a link to book your child’s orientation session.

We ask that you stay at the service with your child for the duration of this session.

During the kindergarten year

If you accept a kindergarten place once the year has begun, educators at the kindergarten will contact you to tailor an orientation session to meet your child’s needs.
