What is a transfer
A transfer provides families the opportunity to request to move to another kindergarten when a place has been accepted and is no longer their first preference, or where circumstances have changed. This includes transferring to another kindergarten or transferring to another session within the same kindergarten.
Your child will remain placed at their current kindergarten, whilst being added to the waiting list and considered for a transfer in future offer rounds. This means your child can continue to attend kindergarten whilst waiting to be considered for a new place. However, as places are limited and demand is high, there is no guarantee we may be able to offer your child a transfer.
Please note that transferring a child from an external kindergarten is not considered a transfer. Families who want to move their child from a kindergarten that is not listed as one of our Council Managed or Independently Managed kindergartens will need to complete a new registration. External kindergartens operate independently from our system, so we are unable to carry over enrolment details.

Requesting a transfer for the current year
To be eligible to request a transfer for the current year, your child must be regularly attending the kindergarten where they are placed. Once on the transfer waiting list, your child will be considered in future offer rounds. When accepting a transfer, families will be advised in the acceptance email of the date their child will commence in the new kindergarten/session.

Requesting a transfer for next year
Transfer requests can be submitted once offer rounds for the following year have commenced. Transfer offer rounds are undertaken separately to offer rounds and will not occur until later in the year. If your child is not offered a transfer before the kindergarten year starts, your child must attend the kindergarten they were originally placed in order to remain eligible for a transfer.

Responding to your transfer offer
If your child is offered a transfer, you will receive an email and SMS. Families will receive information in the email on how to respond to the offer and when to respond by.
If you do not respond by the expiry date, the offer will be cancelled. Your child will then be taken off the waiting list and will not receive any future offers.
If you still require a transfer, you can contact the Kindergarten Enrolments and Planning team by email to add your child back onto the waiting list.
If we are unable to offer your child a transfer, you will be notified by email and given the opportunity to advise whether you still wish to be considered in future transfer offer rounds or removed from the waiting list.
