Risk Management Policy

Version 4.0

Purpose and Intent

To clearly document Casey City Council’s (the Council) approach to establishing and maintaining an effective risk management culture across the organisation in accordance with the Local Government Act 2020 and the principles and guidelines set out in the International Risk Management Standard AS ISO 31000:2018.

Council is committed to ensuring that effective risk management remains central to all its activities and is a core management competency. The aim of this policy is to ensure that risk management is embedded in the Council’s processes and culture, where all employees are responsible for detecting, evaluating, and monitoring their risk environments.

Scope

This policy applies to all service and functional areas. Risk management is not a stand-alone function separate from the main activities and processes of the organisation. It is an integral part of all organisational processes, including strategic planning, project and change management process.
