Key initiatives coming to Casey

Casey's waste service is changing for the better. The waste collection service will roll out these changes statewide. The key benefits will include:

  • Standardised lid colours:
The same bins across the state will reduce confusion when households move from one municipality to another.
  • Every household will have a Food and garden bin.
Disposing of food in the food and garden bin allows the material to be composted and reused on Victorian farms, parks and gardens.
  • Adding a new glass bin (purple lid):
Glass is a critical resource that can be recycled indefinitely. Separating glass from co-mingled recycling allows for a higher recycling rate, improves the quality of cardboard and paper recycling, and fosters more significant investment in glass packaging instead of plastic.
